Scholarship

The scholarship is our longest running Junior Auxiliary project, founded by the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries in 1962, and is Junior Auxiliary’s national service project. Since being created, the NAJA scholarship committee has awarded more than $1,000,000 in grants to graduate students in fields which address the special needs of children and youth. Our Jonesboro Junior Auxiliary chapter has awarded over $375,000 in scholarships since 1958. In addition, we gave a $100,000 endowment to Arkansas State University in 2012. Locally we provide both traditional and non-traditional scholarships to qualified applicants each spring. We also assist local students in applying for one of the graduate school scholarships provided by NAJA.

“The last four years have been a true turning point in my life. I have discovered my voice as an artist and most importantly I have discovered myself. The wide-eye, hopeful that received his high school diploma just a few years ago is not the same person that is writing this letter today. Today, a confident young man with passion writes this letter. The evolution in self would not have been possible if it were not for all of the help and the support from the Jr. Auxiliary. I have been staring at a blank page wondering how to express in words the gratitude I have for your generosity. I’ve come to the conclusion that words cannot truly express. But what I can express is that the Jr. Auxiliary didn’t just invest in me and my college career, they’ve invested in the performance arts. By giving me the financial means to educate and train myself, they are sending one more person into the world with the ability to produce quality work and keep the theatre alive. So, on behalf of all of those that the Jr. Auxiliary has affected by their generous investments, thank you.”

Sincerely yours, Alex J. Poyner
